"The Maury Op. Nord 2011 remarkably reveals the value of this small north-facing plot, with much more complexity and finesse in this vintage than in the corresponding regular cuvée. It offers rich notes of cherry, blackberry, smoky black tea, spicy brown spices, cocoa powder, and a floral fragrance that adds to its appeal. This beauty with a long finish will be worth paying attention to until at least 2018." (Wine Advocate - Robert Parker)

Bettane & Desseauve
Wine rated (2015 guide) 15/20 (Very good wine)
Rated estate (2015 guide) 3 stars (High-quality production, serving as a benchmark in its sector)
About wine:
A classic type of VDN wine made from schist soils, with dark chocolate notes and not too rich in sugar (85 g), which contributes to its balance on the palate.
About the estate:
Stéphane Gallet, husband of Marjorie, from Roc des Anges, after leaving Mas Amiel with the harsh experience of a vineyard that was then new to him, set up his own business and immediately produced some of the most original and accomplished Maurys of our time, born of impeccable viticulture and winemaking that leaves nothing to chance.

Wine rated (2015 guide) 17,5/20 (Great wine)
Rated estate (2015 guide) 2 stars (These very large estates, often blessed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves which, thanks to their consistency and the excellence of their production, deserve a place in the cellars of discerning wine lovers).
About wine:
The Op. Nord vintage gradually developed a patina in 2011.
About the estate:
Marjorie and Stéphane Gallet, from the Le Roc des Anges estate, embarked on the adventure of natural sweet wines in 2008: with rare inspiration and an extreme concern for quality, they craft three Maury vintages that are magnificent expressions of schist. These wines, two reds and one white, transcend the inherent limitations of fortification by preserving a brightness and mineral smokiness, a term that is clearly appropriate here. They shed new light on a genre that is still too formulaic or conventional, and are immediately ranked among the very best Maury vintages. The second star is well deserved this year.
