Gault & Millau

(2010 vintage notes)

Tannat's concentration and richness in polyphenols give this wine a unique feel and a new style, with ageing potential comparable to Vintage Ports. A rare cuvée not to be missed!

To be enjoyed on sheep's milk cheese, to replace the ancestral jam... On Roquefort cheese it's divine, on chocolate desserts, on all desserts with red fruit coulis. Alain Brumont's top tip: strawberries with Montus Vintage!

Domaine noté (guide 2023) Sélectionné (We remind you that this guide is a prize list and as such, all the estates that appear in it, even without a star, represent, in our eyes, the excellence of French production).

About the domain :

Alain Brumont develops his personality through a style that takes wines from Madiran around the world under the label of Château Montus, which he bought in 1980. Brumont's cuvées often go against conventional wisdom, demonstrating his freedom in interpreting the terroirs' yellow and red clay subsoils, with gradients ranging from 20 to 40%. Tannat expresses itself in the château's three cuvées, Prestige, XL, Montus and La Tyre, and certainly delivers the most spectacular profile of this not-easy-to-handle Pyrenean grape.
