About wine:
The Merlot/Cabernet Franc blend expresses Julien Auroux's limestone terroir, with notes of mint, red berries, and blackcurrant. It is a perfect cuvée with ideal proportions and sumptuous tannins, offering beautiful depth and great spirit with deep tannins.
About the estate:
Bergerac, in the far southeast of the appellation: from his organically farmed plots on the limestone plateau and deep clay hillsides, Julien Auroux looks to the future with confidence. His wines have turned their backs on Bergerac's past, which sought to imitate Bordeaux reds while forgetting the soil. On the contrary, he is committed to salinity, frank and precise aromatic expression, indigenous yeast, and almost no added sulfur. He is rehabilitating grapes from the past for a return to the future. The range draws on the acidity of the soil for a digestible presence and has taken a step up this year.

Note and opinion by Mr. GILLES D. Published on 12/21/2024
This estate never ceases to amaze me, even more so with this bold vintage. With its beautiful structure, the wine displays bright notes of fresh cherries and blackcurrants against a vegetal backdrop, punctuated by a pronounced acidity that is subtly reflected in its silky texture and intense freshness. The tannins are compact and still a little prominent. The finish prolongs the tension and sharpness of the fruit. The whole is exuberant and joyful at the same time, right down to the presentation. RVF rating as well as the slightly overpriced price. After decanting, it pairs well with a convivial dish of duck sausages with lentils, subtly spiced with a pinch of Espelette pepper. Alternatively, why not try it with a traditional cassoulet with duck confit? Rating = 4.
