About the estate:
Bergerac, in the far southeast of the appellation: from his organically farmed plots on the limestone plateau and deep clay hillsides, Julien Auroux looks to the future with confidence. His wines have turned their backs on Bergerac's past, which sought to imitate Bordeaux reds while forgetting the soil. On the contrary, he is committed to salinity, frank and precise aromatic expression, indigenous yeast, and almost no added sulfur. He is rehabilitating grapes from the past for a return to the future. The range draws on the acidity of the soil for a digestible presence and has taken a step up this year.

Note and opinion by Mr. GILLES D. Published on 11/03/2024
Favorite this remarkable Bergerac, which is powerful, smooth, and fresh all at once. On the palate, it unfurls a luscious, indulgent juice with radiant, slightly candied fruit and a touch of spice, carried by delicate, round, velvety tannins. Vinified without the addition of wood—the right choice—the wine is textured, retains a beautiful, finely saline energy, and is bursting with exuberant fruit right through to its extremely persistent finish. A bargain price! Far from being thin, this Bergerac with character has already provided much pleasure in its youth alongside a confit shoulder of lamb, accompanied by fresh green beans sautéed in butter with parsley. Rating = 4.3.
