Le Clos d'un Jour
Le Clos d'un Jour was created by Véronique and Stéphane Azémar in 1999. Eager to work together, in the fresh air, on an exciting product without intermediaries, they took on this resurgent vineyard with a fresh eye.

Le Clos d'un Jour is located on the 3rd terrace of the Lot, renowned for producing rich, ageing wines. The estate's small size enables us to take the greatest care of each parcel, 90% of which is planted with Malbec, the appellation's original and emblematic grape variety. As part of this constant quest to respect the terroir, no chemical treatments are used, and work is carried out by hand, with sheep from Ushant doing the mowing. The estate vineyard Le Clos d'une Jour has been converting to organic farming for 3 years.

Véronique and Stéphane Azémar work on the specific characteristics of Malbec, and the difficult balance between power-concentration and finesse-roundness. This research has led them to innovate in maturing the wine in ceramic jars, which oxygenate the wine without the woody aromas of a barrel. An estate that breathes new life and dynamism into the Cahors appellation.

"6 times Favorite in the Guide Hachette

"This cuvée made from Malbec planted on clay-limestone soils has received no less than 6 Favorites in the Guide Hachette over the years. Here's the sixth for a typical, powerful, gourmand 2018. Dark purple, the wine exuberantly delivers aromas of black fruit (blueberry, blackcurrant), kirsch and morello cherry. On the palate, everything is velvety, with tannins that melt into the dense body. And the long, evocative finish of crushed strawberry adds the ultimate touch of seduction. A Cahors that's certainly ready to serve, but also built for the future". (Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2021)

"A lovely basket of red and black fruits with a hint of flowers is the aromatic gift of this expressive, gourmet wine. The structure still appears firm, but it is a guarantee of longevity, as the material is sufficiently dense to integrate it". (Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2022). A rich, powerful Cahors, it can be drunk now, but will undoubtedly age elegantly for many years to come.

long-keeping wine

Its long ageing period makes it a concentrated wine that's perfect for laying down. Its strong personality is revealed through a present but well-integrated woodiness, as well as a beautiful tension that brings vivacity to finish on a lovely fresh fruit, all in finesse. A high-potential Cahors.
