"A beautiful Marmandais!"

"Leather and chestnuts on the nose, but rich, tight Damascus plum fruit on the palate. A touch of peach pit, both in texture and flavor. Lots of energy and just a little fiery at the back of the throat. There's a scent of fresh mushrooms that hovers over the wine at first, but settles into the finish. This is a wine that makes me want a bowl of truffle risotto. Drink between 2019 and 2025." (Jancis Robinson)

Wine rated (2020 guide) 17/20 (Reference wine)

Domaine rated (2020 guide) 2*Stars (A serious and recommendable production, but a little more regular and homogeneous than the previous one)

About the wine:

A real beauty. An intense, well-structured, complex red, still very young, but whose potential shines through with every sip. The tightly woven structure carries a complex, just-right aromatic world.

About the domain :

Véronique Broutet and her husband Frédéric created the Domaine de Beyssac in 2006, on their family's land in the Côtes du Marmandais region. The winery was built in 2009, and the adventure continues today with these 14 hectares in a single block, situated on a well-exposed hillside and managed biodynamically since 2017. Everything is harvested by hand, and spontaneous, natural plant cover is encouraged. The wines produced from this beautiful terroir are dense and suave. They are born serious and vigorous, then melt and reveal themselves after three years. All is well in 2015 and 2016.

Wine rated (2019 guide) 2*Coup de Coeur (Outstanding wine)

Domaine noté (guide 2020) Award-winning wines (The wines of this producer are regularly awarded by the guide)

About the wine:

The depth, intensity and brilliance of the color leave no doubt as to the concentration of this wine born of Merlot and Abouriou. The nose confirms this, developing intense notes of very ripe fruit, pepper, vanilla and liquorice. A straightforward attack opens onto a rich, suave and dense palate, supported by solid tannins, stretching into a long, beautiful licorice finish. A powerful, complex wine with excellent cellaring potential.

About the domain :

A successful reconversion for this "neo-winemaker" who created this domaine ex nihilo in 2009. With 12.5 ha of vines in Marmande, he has a remarkable technological track record: eco-construction of the winery, organic and biodynamic farming in the vineyards and the most natural winemaking possible.

A very pleasant wine of character on the day, with a firm, long finish. The next day, the wine seemed lighter. A second corked bottle! A pity.

a very special wine! the abouriou grape variety certainly has something to do with it. the alcohol crushes everything, already 7 years of ageing, won't benefit from being kept any longer. a little expensive for my taste.

Score: 16+/20
