Bettane & Desseauve
Wine rated (2019 guide) 15.5/20 (Very good wine)
RVF - La Revue du Vin de France / Guide des Meilleurs Vins de France
Scored (2019 guide) 17.5/20 (Grand vin)
Domaine rated (2023 guide) 2*Stars (These great estates, often blessed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves which, because of their consistency and the excellence of their production, must be included in the cellars of discerning wine lovers).
About the wine:
Roasted hazelnut nose, curry, clean attack, full, frank, lively, nice complexity, our mild curry, saffron, fresh walnut, nice spicy length, roasted hazelnut.
About the domain :
The Plageoles family has left its mark on the recent history of wine in Gaillac. Robert, then Bernard and Myriam, who brilliantly took over from him, were pioneers in the defense of local grape varieties and ancestral winemaking techniques. Bernard's sons, Florent and Romain, are gradually taking over, defending the twelve varieties grown in their vineyards, including the delicious prunelart, the extremely rare verdanel and the mauzac quartet (green, red, pink and black). Away from fashion and the beaten track, the estate continues to produce wines with strong personalities, exclusively from a single grape variety. This work of the head, the heart and the hands is fully reflected in a range of cuvées aiming for purity, uprightness and originality.

No match for a yellow wine in terms of complexity.

Brighter than a yellow wine, fine nose with a hint of curry. Classic mouthfeel of an oxidative wine, clean and fairly straightforward. Closer to a manzanilla sherry than a yellow wine, which is much more complex on the palate. Perfect as an aperitif.

Exceptional, walnut, curry, a great wine worthy of a Chateau Chalon!
