Gaillac
Gaillac's Appellations d'Origine Contrôlée are characterized by an extraordinary richness: whether dry white, fresh pearled or red, you'll always discover a finesse there, a more intense aromatic bouquet here, or unexpected red fruit aromas there.
Today, the Appellation is made up of around a hundred individual wineries and three cooperative wineries. The variety of terroirs (of which there are three) and the age of the vineyards mean that Gaillac's grape varieties are both varied and traditional. As a result, the diversity of Gaillac's vineyards translates into a wide range of wines, from dry, sweet and pearled whites to reds, rosés and sparkling wines.
The Gaillac vineyards benefit from two influences:
- the mild oceanic climate, which limits the risk of frost and ensures good water supply for the vines
- Mediterranean heat in summer and autumn, accentuated by the Autan wind, ensures that the grapes ripen well and the weather is mild during the harvest.
Today, the vineyard's ambitions are supported by a new generation of winemakers, who add to the passion of their fathers the pragmatism of high-level training. In addition to the latest viticultural technologies, their know-how also extends to business and management techniques.
