"Simply prodigious

"The raisin dominates the roasted nose, a sign of quality botrytis. A touch of acidity invigorates the whole. On the palate, the wine is precise and serene, delivering notes of citrus peel and leaving the palate fresh despite 200 grams of sugar: that's what we call just right." Bettane & Desseauve

Bettane & Desseauve

Wine rated (2020 guide) 16.5/20 (Reference wine)

About the wine:

This old gold-tinted wine releases aromas of apple compote, with great precision, density and superb balance. The finish, with notes of citrus and baked apple, is irresistible. Try it with a tarte Tatin.

Wine rated (guide 2020) 16,5/20 Coup de Coeur

Domaine rated (2023 guide) 2*Stars (These great estates, often blessed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves which, because of their consistency and the excellence of their production, must be included in the cellars of discerning wine lovers).

About the wine:

The raisin dominates the roasted nose, a sign of quality botrytis. A touch of acidity tones the whole. On the palate, this precise, serene wine delivers notes of citrus peel, leaving the palate fresh despite 200 grams of sugar: that's what we call precision.

About the domain :

The Plageoles family has left its mark on the recent history of wine in Gaillac. Robert, then Bernard and Myriam, who brilliantly took over from him, were pioneers in the defense of local grape varieties and ancestral winemaking techniques. Bernard's sons, Florent and Romain, are gradually taking over, defending the twelve varieties grown in their vineyards, including the delicious prunelart, the extremely rare verdanel and the mauzac quartet (green, red, pink and black). Away from fashion and the beaten track, the domaine continues to produce demanding, exclusively single-vineyard wines with strong personalities. This work of the head, the heart and the hands is fully reflected in a range of cuvées aiming for purity, uprightness and originality.

A true delight, with a brilliant golden color and a complex, opulent nose. The palate is long, suave and the sugar fully integrated.

What a surprise to discover that this wine is only 11°! And what balance, despite the 180g of sugar, this wine is perfect! Bravo

The nose is reminiscent of a more elegant Montbazillac. But the color is clearly amber. Perfectly balanced on the palate, with good acidity. Yellow fruit, honey. A fine bottle of a very interesting local grape variety!
