Benjamin Passot Estate
Originally from Burgundy, Benjamin Passot trained at an estate in Vosne Romanée for several years before setting up his own domaine in 2017. As a continuation, he moved further south into Beaujolais and began his work as a winemaker with 1 hectare of vines in the heart of Juliénas. Starting from scratch, Benjamin Passot bought his first his first Juliénas les Escuissin vineyard, followed shortly afterwards by the Juliénas Vaux parcel. His first 2017 vintage bore fruit, notably with the cuvée Juliénas Vaux (Vayolette), which represented the appellation at the Salon de l'Agriculture 2019 and rated 2** Favorite in the Guide hachette 2021. Passionate and eager to see his work through to a successful conclusion, year after year he buys hand-picked parcels that are dear to his heart, both in terms of their history and the richness of their terroir.

This explains why. Based on this principle, Benjamin Passot works on a parcel-by-parcel basis, making each wine unique. In this way, vinification and vatting the typicity of each parcel. All cuvées are harvested by hand and with pruning shears to avoid damaging the fruit. Over time, he has succeeded in adapting the Burgundy-inspired vinification to this astonishingly rich terroir. Each cuvée is barrel-aged only.
In the vineyards, Benjamin works with non-certified organic methods and likes to leave clover and richness in the soil.
His estate now boasts 2.5 ha of vines in Juliénas, Chiroubles, Chénas and soon 2.7 ha with the forthcoming acquisition of a parcel in Moulin-à-Vent.
A true young winemaker to watch.
