"A fine Saint-Estèphe at the right price!
"Purplish purple. Filigree, complex bouquet with notes of black berries, licorice wood and chocolate. On the palate, the wine is fruity, elegant and creamy. Full-bodied, with fine-grained tannins that reveal themselves slowly. Fruity, persistent finish. A great success and a wine with excellent ageing potential". Château Petit Bocq
Saint-Estèphe
Expert opinion
Bettane & Desseauve
Domaine rated (2020 guide) 2*Stars (A serious and recommendable production, but a little more regular and homogeneous than the previous one)
About the domain :
This discreet 14-hectare château, located right next to Haut-Marbuzet on the same plateau, offers a fine representation of Saint-Estèphe terroirs. However, the high proportion of Merlot in the blends gives the wine a deliberately charming, flattering style.

About the wine:
Gold medal at Wolrd Wine Awards: purplish purple. Filigree, complex bouquet with notes of dark berries, licorice wood and chocolate. On the palate, the wine is fruity, elegant and creamy. Full-bodied, with fine-grained tannins that reveal themselves slowly. Fruity, persistent finish. A great success and a wine with excellent ageing potential. 2024-2040

About the wine:
Deep purple color. Ripe but reserved, with hints of black fruit. Purity of fruit. Beautiful balance and texture, finely melted tannins. Clean, persistent finish. Harmonious despite the alcohol. Well done! 2023-2032

About the wine:
Charming aromas of walnut, bark, black berries and cassis lead to a full-bodied palate with round, juicy, rich, layered tannins. Long, flavorful finish. Very well-balanced for the vintage. To be tried after 2024.

Yves Beck
Wine rated (2020 guide) 94/100
About the wine:
Superb bouquet combining fruit, ageing and terroir. Full-bodied and elegant on the palate. The tannins are imposing, smooth and reach their fullness on the finish. Beautiful aromatic intensity, right through to the finish. Intense, persistent dark berry finish. 2024-2040
Jean-Marc Quarin
Wine rated (2019 guide) 90/100
About the wine:
Dark, intense and beautiful color. Medium-intensity nose, with fruit that's both sunny and fresh. Fat on the attack, dense in development, juicy and creamy, the palate is one of the most complete I've ever experienced. The wine finishes savory and long on a well-coated tannicity.

Full-bodied Saint-Estèphe, with no particular sophistication but just the right amount of oak, developing deep, sappy juice and a fleshy, creamy texture. Racy tannins coat a solid core of concentrated black fruits, tinged with a touch of spice and mocha notes. Average persistence. Attractively priced. Very good cellaring potential, and already a good match for venison stew or old-fashioned pheasant salmis with homemade turnip purée. Score = 4.

Brutal, not really a "fine wine", harsh. Well... after 1/2 day in a decanter and two days in the fridge in a vacuum-sealed bottle, the apreté becomes a little more velvety, a little rough, but it opens up and becomes pleasant.
