"A magical vintage: it is the only premier cru geographically and geologically linked to the terroir of their famous Grand Cru Les Preuses!"

"Full-bodied, ample on the palate, powerful and concentrated, a dense, flavorful, and spicy wine that opens up gradually, but is best enjoyed after some time in the bottle." (Le Guide Bettane + Desseauve)

Wine rated 96/100

Rated estate (2021 guide) 5 stars (Exceptional producers, representing the absolute pinnacle of quality in France and worldwide)

About wine:

Full-bodied, ample on the palate, powerful and concentrated, a dense, flavorful, and spicy wine that gradually reveals itself, but is best enjoyed after some time in the bottle.

About the estate:

In post since the estate was bought by Bouchard Père et Fils of Beaune nearly a quarter of a century ago, Didier Séguier has significantly improved the quality of the wines since then. While the vineyards are undoubtedly the finest in the entire Chablis region, both in terms of premier cru and grand cru wines, it is the meticulous and rigorous work carried out in the vineyard and in the cellar that allows the quintessential minerality of Chablis' Kimmeridgian limestone to be extracted. These wines can generally be enjoyed young, but also age impeccably.

About wine:

Grown at just 34 hl/ha, the 2019 Chablis Premier Cru Vaulorent is superb, unfolding in the glass with notes of citrus oil, crisp green orchard fruits, white peach, iodine, and pastry cream. Medium-bodied to full-bodied, silky and enveloping, with racy acidity and a long, iodine-scented finish, this is the most complete Premier Cru in the range.

Wine rating (2022 guide) 95/100 Favorite

Rated estate (2023 guide) 2 stars (These very large estates, often blessed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves which, thanks to their consistency and the excellence of their production, deserve a place in the cellars of discerning wine lovers).

About wine:

Deep on the nose, the marly soil brings density and salinity to Vaulorent. Impressive scope and structure combined with freshness in this intense, vigorous, and full-bodied wine, close to a Grand Cru.

About the estate:

Owned by the Henriot group, this estate is the largest owner of Chablis grands crus, with more than fifteen hectares. Its vast vineyard and range of great terroirs are enhanced by meticulous organization: soil cultivation, manual harvesting at the optimal time, and yield regulation. Passionate about his vines, Didier Seguier, who has been at the helm of the estate since 1998, produces pure, well-defined and clean Chablis wines, using organic methods (certification pending) and even biodynamic methods for the premier and grand cru wines. With the exception of Petit Chablis, vinification and aging are skillfully divided for each cuvée between barrels (never new) and stainless steel vats. Refusing to impose any signature style, the wines seduce with their respect for the terroir and expression of minerality, which have been better preserved since the estate gradually switched its entire range to Diam's corks between 2005 and 2010. The conversion to organic farming is underway.

About wine:

Rather stony/mineral aromas, slightly herbaceous and lemony. The oak is very delicate and well integrated, the creamy texture complements the stony flavor on the palate, although there are citrus notes on the attack. Nice length as well.

About wine:

Another linear and tight Premier Cru, with hints of lemon, apple, a touch of white pepper, and chalk. It is medium-bodied. Clean and linear. Ready to drink now.
