Côte de Nuits Villages
The Côte de Nuits-Villages appellation d'origine contrôlée (AOC) is shared by several villages in the Côte d'Or department. The Côte de Nuits covers an area of approximately 150 hectares, entirely or partially within the communes of Brochon, Fixin, Prémeaux, Comblanchien, and Corgoloin. Côte de Nuits-Villages wines have enjoyedthis appellation since 1964 and are notably represented by Maison Louis Jadot and Domaine Joseph Drouhin.

Adjacent to the vineyards of Côte de Beaune, the Côte de Nuits-Villages appellation vineyards are mainly planted on clay-limestone soils: the slopes of Comblanchien and Corgoloin reveal grainy limestone from the Upper Bathonian period. To the north of Côte de Nuits-Villages, limestone with entrochs is more common.

Côte de Nuits-Villages wines arered wines made almost exclusively from the Pinot Noir grape variety, and white wines made from the Chardonnay grape variety. The production of the latter is marginal in quantity. The red Côte de Nuits wines are wines with a strong character, not lacking in fruitiness and a certain roundness, while the whites reflect all the richness and aromatic depth so characteristic of Chardonnay.
