"North-facing hillside vines, 70% vinified in vats. Evokes a sea breeze, fresh air, saline, sappy, crisp white fruit on the finish. It's a hallmark of the house style. (Le Guide des Vins Bettane & Desseauve) This wine, named "Desroches" in a nod to the former owners, expresses notes of citrus and exotic fruit, with a delicate roundness brought out by the barrel ageing of part of the vintage.

Bettane & Desseauve
Rated 16.5/20 (Reference wine)
Domaine rated (guide 2022) 3*Stars (High-quality production that can serve as a benchmark in its sector)
About the wine:
North-facing hillside vines, 70% vinified in vats. Evokes a sea breeze, fresh air, saline, sappy, crisp white fruit on the finish. A hallmark of the house style.
About the domain :
The Bret brothers, never short of ideas or inventiveness, have become a benchmark in the Mâconnais thanks to their acute mastery of biodynamic viticulture. Most of the work in the vineyard is done by hand, apart from ploughing and spraying (with tractor or horse), and their vines have become a playground for INRA researchers. La Soufrandière is the family's 11-hectare estate, now certified Demeter. Bret Brothers is the trading activity, buying in grapes and producing 15 micro-cuvées (ten of which are certified organic). The wines are always remarkably energetic, pure and easily digestible. One of the region's model addresses, with complete confidence.

Rated (2019 guide) 92/100 (Outstanding wine)
Domaine noté (guide 2022) Recommended (Wine producer recommended by Robert Parker - The Wine Advocate)
About the wine:
From a north-facing climate, Saint-Véran La Combe Des Roches 2017 opens in the glass with aromas of citrus oil, crisp green apple and white flowers. On the palate, it's dense, satiny and incisive, with lively acids and a chalky, precise finish. A very fine performance from this new cuvée for La Soufrandière.
About the domain :
Domaine La Soufrandière is the family estate of dynamic brothers Jean-Philippe and Jean-Guillaume Bret (for reviews of their négociant project, see Bret Brothers), where they produce beautifully satiny, pure, flavorful and expressive wines. Organically farmed and hand-harvested, the grapes are whole-cluster pressed before barrel fermentation, with the wines frequently finishing their maturation on lees in stainless steel tanks to preserve tension.

Wine rated (2020 guide) 16/20 (Very good wine)
Domaine rated (guide 2023) 1*Star (Stars in the making or quality winemakers with a good level of production, you won't be disappointed when you taste the wines from these estates)
About the wine:
Bright gold, intense floral nose, hints of honeysuckle. Dense and full-bodied on the palate, with little oak. A fresh whole that recalls the bitterness of grapefruit on the finish.
About the domain :
Acquired by Jules Bret in 1947, the La Soufrandière estate in Vinzelles was started by the Bret brothers, Jean-Philippe and Jean-Guillaume, with the 2000 vintage. From then on, biodynamic viticulture was the obvious choice. Certified Demeter in 2006, they continue to experiment both in the vineyard and the cellar, sublimating their terroirs with infinite care. Cuvées with little or no sulfur are marked Zen on the label. In addition to this estate, Bret Brothers, a high-fashion wine merchant, was created in 2001, and is also featured in our guide.
