He was also the man who, in the commune of Vosne-Romanée, bought up what was then a simple wasteland and turned it into a parcel of vines known as Cros Parantoux, now classified as a premier cru, another mythical and rare wine that sells for gold. In those days, Henri Jayer used dynamite to clear the land, because he had such faith in the terroir.
