Joseph Drouhin
Joseph Drouhin, founded in Beaune in 1880, now has 73 hectares of its own vineyards, making it one of the largest estates in the region, covering the whole of Burgundy: Chablis, Côte de Nuits, Côte de Beaune and Côte Chalonnaise. The estate comprises a majority of Grands Crus and Premiers Crus, planted with the two Burgundian grape varieties: Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.

Domaine Joseph Drouhin owns some of Burgundy's most famous crus, including Clos des Mouches, Montrachet Marquis de Laguiche, Musigny, Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru and Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru... For certain local and regional appellations, Joseph Drouhin supplements its supplies with long-standing partner winemakers who share its exacting standards. Since 1990, Maison Joseph Drouhin has opted for an organic and biodynamic approach. The soil is tended exclusively with natural products. With around 90 appellations, Joseph Drouhin offers a fascinating discovery of the Burgundian terroir, in all its authentic nuances. The Joseph Drouhin style combines balance, harmony and character. Young wines have a subtle freshness; ageing wines acquire a sumptuous complexity. Joseph Drouhin wines are served at the finest tables, and the House is proud to bring the best of Burgundy to the world.

"Bite into wild blackberries and black cherries!"

"The discreet nose suggests that this is a fairly dense wine. On the palate, the fruit is very present and charming, followed by slightly biting tannins." (Jancis Robinson 2023)

"A wine of great pleasure!"

"The Pouilly-Vinzelles 2021 has a taut, fresh nose, tinged with petrichor, with notes of pressed flowers, a little more power compared to Drouhin's Mâcon-Lugny. The palate is very well balanced, not too complex, but concentrated with a taut, mineral finish. Excellent. " (Vinous 2023)

"Already delicious, all balanced and so crunchy!"

"Elegant and fresh with a wonderful delicacy. I love the floral and red cherry notes. So filigree that it's hard to believe it contains 14% alcohol! Already delicious, but with great aging potential. Drink it or keep it. (James Suckling 2021)

"A magnificent companion for a delicious capon!

Candied fruit aromas on the nose of this Corton, evolving towards musky and spicy nuances with age. In its youth, the palate is quite full-bodied, without harshness. The aromas linger for a very long time, bringing back memories of the candied fruits of the first nose.

Joseph Drouhin - Rully 2022

90/100 Decanter

(2020 vintage notes)

attractive

"A very charming Chardonnay".

Charming, Rully Blanc immediately seduces with its pure, brilliant white gold color. The aromas that emerge from the glass are fresh and fruity, with hints of broom and almond. The palate has the freshness and gourmet length of Côte Chalonnaise wines.

Mont d'Or
long-keeping wine

"A supple, feminine wine!

"Deep, almost black in color, it has an impressive concentration of dark plums, with notes of earth, smoke and a hint of leather. The tannins are firm but very finely grained. In its power and concentration, this wine is almost reminiscent of Drouhin's work in Oregon rather than Burgundy. This clos is located in the center of the village of Les Godeaux, at the top of the slope above Lavieres, with south-facing vines." (Decanter 2021)

1er cru

"Famous vineyard

Here's a famous vineyard! South of Beaune, very close to the town, Pommard is believed to be one of the oldest winegrowing sites on the Côte. Pommard Grands Epenots has a beautiful deep ruby color. The nose is elegant and complex: nuances of red fruit (blackcurrant, redcurrant, morello cherry), a traditional expression of Pinot Noir, with toasty, spicy notes. Full-bodied on the palate, with ripe, supple tannins. Very long finish. Best cellared for several years.

Joseph Drouhin - Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru 2019

pinot noir

1er cru

This garnet-red Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er cru delivers intense notes of wild berries mingling with hints of truffle and licorice. The balance between power and finesse is perfect. Structured, complex and with elegant tannins, the wine finishes with a beautiful, delicately spicy, aromatic finish. Excellent ageing potential.

class

A great Burgundy, worthy of its reputation. Intense, luminous red in color, powerful nose with hints of black cherry and spices, evolving towards new leather. On the palate, the tannins give a certain impression of firmness, softened by a harmonious fatness. Beautiful aromatic persistence.

"A great Vougeot

"A richness of wet earth notes and an array of red and black cherries, as well as a slightly smoky hint. The palate is beautifully mellow and long, offering a very striking range of juicy, rich, sweet cherries that remain pure and fresh. The silky tannins have the last word. Grand Vougeot. Try from 2022" (James Suckling 2019).

Joseph Drouhin - Mâcon Lugny Les Crays 2017

14,5/20 Bettane & Desseauve

On Jurassic era clay-limestone soil, Les Crays reveals a delicate nose of white flowers and peach. On the palate, the wine reveals both ripe fruit and freshness, supported by a saline structure.
