"A Tempranillo of incredible finesse and elegance, sublimated by Peter Sisseck!"
"Flor de Pingus 2021 comes from several vineyards in La Horra, Ribera del Duero, and has spent 18 months in French oak barrels. It is purple in color. Complex, subtle aromas include sour cherry and blueberry interwoven with rose, herbs and garrigue. On the palate, it's dry and velvety, with a balanced chalky character, quite intense, not very fresh but very energetic. This is a distinctive and delicious red that reflects a modern approach to Ribera." (Vinous 2023)

Rated (guide 2024) 95+/100 (Extraordinary wine)
Domaine noté Recommended (Wine producer recommended by Robert Parker - The Wine Advocate)
About the wine:
Flor de Pingus 2021 is a village wine from La Horra, made by small plot vinification and blending. They aim for texture, a delicate, elegant wine. The nose is very subtle and harmonious, very clean and concentrated. There are no traces of oak on the nose. The wine's profile is closer to 2018 or 2016 than 2015 or 2019. It has a velvety texture, an elegant palate and a certain restraint (he thinks the hot summer of 2021 slowed down the plants), and it's fresher than the 2020 wine. It's fresher than the 2020 wine. There's a very fine thread running through it, with chalky, very elegant tannins. It has lived up to the promise of the barrel. From 2023, the wine will be certified organic. Some 96,300 bottles were produced, along with a few large formats. It was bottled in June 2023. 2024-2030

About the wine:
Black cherries, ripe but fresh blueberries, slate, violets and a hint of graphite. The fruit is abundant, but remains fresh and very primary on the midpalate, with powdery tannins and a long, even finish. It has volume and linearity. For drinking or cellaring.
