"According to Vinous, this Ribera del Duero represents Vega Sicilia's modern approach to this prestigious appellation!"

"This red wine is refined and elegant, with aromas of blackberry, black olive, iron, and terracotta. It is medium-bodied to full-bodied on the palate, with slightly chewy tannins and a savory finish. It will soften nicely with age. (James Suckling 2023) - Delivery in wooden cases is available for orders of 6 bottles of this wine (depending on the country and shipping method selected).

Wine rated (2024 guide) 95/100 (Extraordinary wine)

About wine:

The year 2020 was drier than average until harvest time, when rain diluted the grapes, which had to wait to regain their concentration. The result is that Alión 2020 is a more balanced and fresher wine. They felt that the skins were very ripe and that they could extract more and use a little more American oak (4%) in the aging process. Starting in 2019, they kept the press wine separate until June, and they keep separate quantities of press wines that are aged in different containers depending on the quality of the wine. They used a percentage of concrete and oak tanks for aging, which gives the wine more verticality and freshness. This is a subtle and elegant Alión, less dense than other vintages, but with beautiful balance and very elegant tannins. 2025-2035

About wine:

Alión 2020 is made from grapes grown in different plots in Padilla de Duero, Valbuena de Duero, and Pesquera de Duero. It was aged in barrels and casks, with a small portion placed in concrete vats. Garnet red in color. The aromas are characterized by notes of sour cherry and blackberry, as well as wild herbs and undergrowth. The palate is dry and chalky, with a slight freshness and a rich, tense sensation that precedes a polished, smooth, long, and complex finish. This is Vega Sicilia's modern approach to Ribera del Duero. 2025-2040
