Domaine Alain Chabanon

The Alain Chabanon estate is located on exceptional terroir at the foot of the Larzac plateau. The vineyard covers around twenty hectares, spread evenly across five municipalities (Jonquières, St André, Lagamas, Saint Saturnin, and Montpeyroux). This layout allows the estate to benefit from a large number of microclimates and different types of soil. The terroir of Domaine Alain Chabanon is ideally suited to the cultivation and development of vines: arid, stony soils located on the foothills of the Larzac limestone plateau, cold winters and hot summers framed by mild springs and autumns.

Domaine Alain Chabanon has been certified organic by Ecocert since 1992 and biodynamic by Demeter since 2010. All grapes are harvested by hand and only between 7 a.m. and noon, even for reds, to take advantage of the morning coolness. The winemaking method used varies according to a number of criteria, the most important of which are the quality of the vintage and the grape variety in question. One thing at least is invariable: no industrial yeast is used, and Domaine Alain Chabanon prefers to use yeast that has been living naturally on the skin of the grapes for months!
