Wine rated (2025 guide) 90/100

Domaine rated (2025 guide) 2*Stars (These great estates, often blessed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves which, because of their consistency and the excellence of their production, must be included in the cellars of discerning wine lovers).

About the wine:

Rated 50, a dapper, youthful Bourgueil, to be drunk by 2027-2028, with charming contours.

About the domain :

Benoît joined the family domaine in Bourgueil in 2003 to continue the family adventure initiated by his father Yannick in 1997. The vineyards are divided between Bourgueil (two-thirds) and the neighboring Saint-Nicolas-de-Bourgueil appellation. You can sense the winemakers' perfectionism and their desire to restore the expression of terroirs through very silky, civilized Cabernet Francs that still retain their bright fruit. The estate has been certified organic since 2009, and each year the wines gain in purity thanks to increasingly accurate vinification (truncated wooden vats, stoneware barrels and jars). The 2022 and 2023 delight us with their frank, clean expression and finesse.

As remarkable as ever for the consistency of its wines, Amirault delivers a beautiful, expressive Bourgueil with a strong sense of identity in this taut 2023. Highlighted by a fine acidity providing restrained freshness, the full, long palate is dominated by a particularly rich aroma of very ripe, crunchy fruit supported by lovely, supple, melted tannins. The finish has a fine, silky texture. Good R.Q/P. Already irresistible in its youth, Côte 50 2023 can be enjoyed with great pleasure with simple, everyday dishes, such as thick slices of braised Vendée ham and mojettes with tomato. Score = 4.
