Domaine de L'R

The domaine de l'R extends over nearly 8 hectares on a vast gravel plain on the right bank of the Vienne river, in the heart of the Vienne appellation. Chinon. After a journey of initiation that took him all the way to Spain, the winemaker.., Frédéric Sigonneaureturned to Touraine in 2004 and, in 2007, founded his own estate on the remains of the family domain in Cravant les Coteaux. From the outset, he chose to grow his Cabernet Franc organically, favoring a culture free of herbicides and insecticides, where the soil is treated mainly with copper and sulfur. At harvest, the grapes are picked by hand and transported in crates. In the cellar, the grapes are vatted by gravity, with short pump-overs and indigenous yeasts. Vineyard management and vinification are thus as natural as possible, and the R domain has now reached cruising speed, becoming one of the key references in the Chinon thanks to several characterful cuvées revealing a keen sense of fruit, depth and complexity.
