"A big red

"Malgagnes? The name of the hillside overlooking the village. 13 months in sandstone barrels and jars have brought good luck to these venerable vines (60 years old), which deliver a ruby-red juice, with frank scents of red fruits and spices. Young, dynamic, fresh and well matured, the palate displays great maturity for the vintage. The slight firmness on the finish in no way detracts from the charm of the whole, and will soon subside". About the wine:

Malgagnes? The name of the hillside overlooking the village. 13 months in stoneware barrels and jars have brought good luck to these venerable vines (60 years old), which deliver a ruby-red juice, with frank scents of red fruits and spices. Young, dynamic, fresh and well matured, the palate displays a fine maturity for the vintage. The slight firmness on the finish in no way detracts from the charm of the whole, and will soon subside.

About the domain :

Active in Saint-Nicolas and Bourgueil, Yannick Amirault is one of the established names in these two appellations. His son Benoît now cultivates the estate's 19 hectares of organic vines.

Wine rated (2024 guide) 92/100

Domaine rated (2025 guide) 2*Stars (These great estates, often blessed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves which, because of their consistency and the excellence of their production, must be included in the cellars of discerning wine lovers).

About the wine:

Take the Malgagnes, which has real finesse of aroma and texture. A firm finish inherent to the vintage is still evident. Three or four years in the cellar will do it a world of good.

About the domain :

Benoît joined the family domaine in Bourgueil in 2003 to continue the family adventure initiated by his father Yannick in 1997. The vineyards are divided between Bourgueil (two-thirds) and the neighboring Saint-Nicolas-de-Bourgueil appellation. You can sense the winemakers' perfectionism and their desire to restore the expression of terroirs through very silky, civilized Cabernet Francs that still retain their bright fruit. The estate has been certified organic since 2009, and each year the wines gain in purity thanks to increasingly accurate vinification (truncated wooden vats, stoneware barrels and jars). The 2022 and 2023 delight us with their frank, clean expression and finesse.
