Domaine du Pré Semelé

The Domaine du Pré Semelé belongs to the Raimbault family, who have been growing vines for three generations on the hillsides of the hamlet of Maimbray, in the commune of Sury-en-Vaux, located 5 km north of Sancerre. Camille and Maurice founded the estate in the 1940s with 3 hectares. Maurice's two sons, Claude and Rémy, took over and expanded the estate to 12 hectares. In 2001, Rémy's son Julien joined the estate and began to develop the export business. Domaine du Pré Semelé now covers 14 hectares and produces 60,000 bottles.

In 2009, it was the turn of Clément, Rémy's second son, to move in. Today, the estate covers 18 hectares in the Sancerre appellation, with 14 hectares of Sancerre Blanc, 3 hectares of Sancerre Rouge, and 1.5 hectares of Sancerre Rosé.

Domaine du Pré Semelé practices sustainable farming with a focus on organic methods (grass is grown between the rows and the vines are cultivated mechanically at ground level). The wines are pure, straightforward, and mineral, reflecting the clay-limestone terroirs, mainly Kimmeridgian marl, also known as white earth. Currently, around 100,000 bottles are produced, 60% of which are exported, 25% sold in France, and 15% sold at the cooperative winery.
