Bettane & Desseauve

"Under a garnet red robe, this blend of half Mourvèdre and half Syrah reveals an intense nose of red and black fruits (blackcurrant, morello cherry) mingled with subtle notes of cocoa. The palate displays a superb balance between the freshness of the fruit, the roundness and smoothness of its texture, and its mellow tannins. The complex, long finish, with hints of spice and a slight salinity, is the final convincing touch." (Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2020) A red wine that reveals the undeniable potential of this region, ideal for festive meals!

Wine rated (2020 guide) 14,5/20 (Good wine)

Rated estate (2021 guide) 2 stars (A serious and recommendable production, but a little more consistent and uniform than the previous one)

About wine:

A pure Mourvèdre, ripe, broad, and powerful, whose aromatics remain somewhat reserved. Decant to soften it and bring out its character.

About the estate:

Located just 900 meters from the sea, this family estate covering nearly 80 hectares sold all its production in bulk until Yannick Burles arrived in 2012 as technical director. Most of the production is bottled at the estate, beautiful vintages are produced, and year after year the wines improve admirably. The vineyard has been carefully restructured, which bodes well for the future of this rising star of the La Londe appellation, which is now contributing to the dynamic development of wines from this commune with undeniable potential. The team in place is making the wines shine.

About the estate:

This wine estate, whose existence has been documented since the 10th century, became the property of the Carthusian monks of La Verne in 1588. In 1855, Horace Vernet, official painter to Napoleon III, acquired it and built a château on the site. In 1920, it was bought by the Faré family, who still own the property today. They relaunched bottling at the estate in 2010 and in 2018 entrusted the management of its 65 hectares of vines to Julie Barneau and Christophe Deffilippi.
