Célèbres pour leurs vins rosés, les vignobles de la région Provence - Côte d’Azur offrent cependant un grand choix de vins rouges et de vins blancs tout aussi exceptionnels. Les Vins IGP des Alpilles profitent d'un climat méditerranéen, avec des hivers doux et des étés chauds, parfois même très chauds, avec des températures pouvant atteindre 40° C. Les précipitations sont irrégulières et prennent souvent la forme de tempêtes violentes. Le Mistral, féroce dans la région, exerce une influence bénéfique sur la vigne. Les vignobles IGP des Alpilles, qui s’étendent le long de la côte ou serpentent dans les vallées de l’arrière-pays, offrent une superbe mise en scène, aux accents pour le moins diversifiés.
Comme dans tous les vignobles de la Méditerranée, on retrouve au sein de l'IGP des Alpilles un encépagement varié. Pour l'IGP des Alpilles rouge, la Grenache, la Syrah, le Cinsault, le Carignan, le Cabernet franc, le Mourvèdre, le Cabernet-Sauvignon, le Merlot et le Counoise.
