Xavier Vignon - Arcane Le Diable 2015
94/100
Robert Parker
"A unique blend, a unique vintage, 100% Mourvèdre!"
There are two slightly eccentric wines from this estate that deserve special attention. Made from almost 100% Mourvèdre from a plot near Vinsobres, the sensational Vin de France Arcane Le Diable 2015 underwent three weeks of maceration (Xavier prefers to extract as much as possible before alcoholic fermentation) and was aged mainly in small oak and concrete vats. Blueberries, blackberries, peppery herbs, and spices emerge from this full-bodied, robust wine with great purity, integrated acidity, and generous structure." (Wine Advocate 2016)

Compared to a Châteauneuf du Pape that costs three times as much at a dinner party. It's the same, only better. The devil wins by knockout.

For me, one of the best reds. Powerful, long finish, nicely fragrant. Great value for money.

A well-structured wine. Should improve with age. Enjoy with ribeye steak and Roquefort cheese. After a year in the cellar, I'm raising my rating to 5 stars. "A GOOD LITTLE DEVIL IN HIS PRIME"

A 100% Mourvèdre 2015 at a very affordable price. Powerful, deep, almost black, a must among the wines of this wonderful terroir in the southern Côtes-du-Rhône. A great success from Xavier Vignon, who never disappoints! (This is at least the third time I've ordered it...)

Always finely crafted wines. Well-balanced, neither too round nor too robust... A real pleasure.

After a long period in the decanter, this is a superb wine with notes of wild fruit lingering with vanilla. It is very good now but can still be kept for another three years.
