"This dazzling Côte Rôtie with its silky texture and elegant fruitiness will delight your guests!"
The stars aligned in the sky above Sarrasine, which accounts for the majority of the estate's production: 10 hectares, each plot of which was harvested, vinified, and aged separately (24 months in demi-muids) before the final blend. The result is a precise nose of macerated red fruits, dried rose, blond tobacco, and sweet spices (cardamom, nutmeg). A flattering and complex expression that is confirmed on the palate, which is caressing, pure, and slender, built on tannins that are as tight as they are elegant, and whose long, fragrant finish of stone fruit promises a bright future. Bettane & Desseauve
Rated estate (2026 guide) 3 stars (High-quality production, serving as a benchmark in its sector)
About the estate:
This small estate produces only four wines, three in Côte Rôtie and one in Condrieu, from its 12 hectares of land, 11 of which are in Côte Rôtie, spread over a large number of plots. Owned by the Guigal family since 2006, the estate is managed by an independent team. The wines tasted are consistently flawless, but they lack that little bit of magic needed to be great ambassadors for the Côte.

About the estate:
By acquiring this estate in 2006, founded in 1961 and expanded and modernized in the 1990s, Marcel Guigal added another jewel to his already richly decorated crown: a 12-hectare vineyard, planted mainly with "serine," an ancient variety of Syrah, which produces Côte-Rôtie and Condrieu wines.

Wine rated (2026 guide) 93/100
Rated estate (2026 guide) Selected (Please note that this guide is a ranking and, as such, all the estates listed in it, even those without stars, represent, in our opinion, the excellence of French production.)
About the estate:
Acquired by the Guigal family in 2006, the Bonserine estate has retained its complete autonomy. At the helm, Ludovic Richard can draw on a fine heritage of vineyards in Côte-Rôtie and Condrieu. The entire vineyard is plowed and indigenous yeasts are used as a matter of course. The red wines remain powerful, but they will mellow with time.

About wine:
Dark and flavorful nose. The palate is juicy and supple, with firm but ripe tannins. The finish is lively and persistent, with the characteristic freshness of the vintage.

Wine rated (2024 guide) 91-93/100
About wine:
Equally structured and impressive, the Côte Rôtie La Sarrasine 2022 (97% Syrah and 3% Viognier) presents a darker fruitiness of black raspberry and blackberry, as well as a medium to full body, a firm, concentrated and tannic palate, beautiful depth in the mid-palate, exceptional length and the pure, concentrated, yet always elegant profile of the vintage. The tannins here are slightly thicker than those of La Garde and La Viallière, but this wine will blossom beautifully with a few years of bottle aging.
