"The 2015 Soula is truly a distinguished wine that time has helped to reveal, with its complex, camphorated, spicy, and meaty nose, and its precise, peppery palate, reminiscent of the Rhône with great tactile elegance." (Le Guide RVF 2025).

Wine rating (2024 guide) 3*Coup de Coeur (Exceptional wine)
About wine:
This 2015 vintage, still full of youth and aged in barrels for 22 months, won over the jury. Its strengths: a beautiful garnet color with ruby highlights, not very evolved for its age; a bouquet of freshness, spices, thyme, and an intense mineral note of stone; a very elegant, long, round and supple palate, centered on black fruits and garrigue herbs, with fine, crisp tannins from whole bunch vinification, and a return of minerality on the finish. Majestic, and long-lasting.

The 2015 Soula is truly a distinguished wine that time has helped to reveal, with its complex, camphorated, spicy, and meaty nose, and its precise, peppery palate, reminiscent of the Rhône with great tactile elegance.
About the estate:
On the beautiful granite terraces of the Fenouillèdes region, northwest of Maury, Gérard Gauby and a few partners acquired this certified organic estate. In 2016, Wendy Wilson replaced Gerald Stanley, who had been running the estate since 2008. The red and white wines are vinified in barrels according to very natural principles: indigenous yeasts, no acidification, no chaptalization. Never lacking in freshness or elegance, the reds have recently gained in structure and body. But from the very first vintage in 2001, Le Soula has distinguished itself mainly through its whites, which have impressed us with their purity and intensity: the combination of Macabeu, Sauvignon Blanc, and several other grape varieties works wonders here. The wines often deserve to be aged in order to enjoy their best expression.

Excellent, perfectly mature in 2024, very balanced... Not cheap or exceptional, however. A safe bet but not unforgettable.
