Bettane & Desseauve
"An amateur grape variety
"This wine has a fairly complex nose of red fruit and blackcurrant, and a structure with fine tannins." (Le Guide des Vins Bettane & Desseauve). A red with aromas of fresh plum, licorice and spices, roundness and volume on the palate, with great concentration and typicity!

Expert opinion
Bettane & Desseauve
Rated 14.5/20 (Good wine)
About the wine:
This wine has a fairly complex nose of red fruit and blackcurrant, and a structure with fine tannins.
RVF - La Revue du Vin de France / Guide des Meilleurs Vins de France
Wine rated (2020 guide) 14/20 (Good wine)
Domaine rated (guide 2023) 2*Stars (These great estates, often blessed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves which, thanks to their consistency and the excellence of their production, must be included in the cellars of discerning wine lovers).
About the wine:
Leathery, parchment-like aromas are evident from the moment you open this 2015, which we strongly recommend decanting.
About the domain :
The Plageoles family has left its mark on the recent history of wine in Gaillac. Robert, then Bernard and Myriam, who brilliantly took over from him, were pioneers in the defense of local grape varieties and ancestral winemaking techniques. Bernard's sons, Florent and Romain, are gradually taking over, defending the twelve varieties grown in their vineyards, including the delicious prunelart, the extremely rare verdanel and the mauzac quartet (green, red, pink and black). Away from fashion and the beaten track, the estate continues to produce wines with strong personalities, exclusively from a single variety. This work of the head, the heart and the hands is fully reflected in a range of cuvées aiming for purity, uprightness and originality.

A pleasant wine with an original taste that's not lacking in charm. Like other local grape varieties, this Prunelard deserves our attention. Diversity is a source of richness and pleasure.
