Inspired by the wines of Franconia (Germany), Michel Chapoutier went in search of Sylvaner to expand his range of Alsace wines. We find the freshness and crispness of the grape variety, with licorice notes and the minerality so characteristic of the winemaker.

Domaine Schieferkopf
Alsace
Expert opinion
Bettane & Desseauve
Domaine rated 1*Star (A serious, recommendable production, in line with what one has the right to expect from its appellation(s))
About the domain :
Biodynamic viticulture always takes a few years to take effect, both in terms of rooting and soil life, and Michel Chapoutier is well aware of this, having bought this estate in 2009 with a few wine-loving friends. Located in northern Alsace, on a vein of blue schist, the estate is gradually making its mark. The Riesling parcels (Burg, Buehl and Fels) are beginning to bring out the subtle nuances of the soil.
