Domaine Schieferkopf - Riesling Lieu-dit Buehl 2010

Gault & Millau
15,5/20
Bettane & Desseauve
"The 2010 Riesling Buehl offers juicy aromas of ripe peach and apricot, tinged with the invigorating bitterness of their pits and smoky notes of black tea. Full-bodied and fresh, especially for this vintage, it finishes with a marked mineral structure that some attribute to the blue slate soils. Scents of musk and peony on the palate lend a mystical touch to this wine, which should be enjoyed until at least 2020." (Wine Advocate 2014 - Robert Parker)

Wine rated 15.5/20 (Very good wine)
Winery rated 1*Star (A serious, recommendable production, consistent with what one would expect from its appellation(s))
About wine:
Straight and refined on the palate, good dry extract, a finish that is currently tight but shows great promise, ending with notes of pineapple.
About the estate:
Biodynamics always takes a few years to produce results, both in terms of rooting and soil life, and Michel Chapoutier knows this well, having purchased this estate in 2009 with a few friends who are lovers of fine wines. Located in northern Alsace, on a vein of blue schist, the estate is gradually making its mark. The Riesling parcels (Burg, Buehl, and Fels) are beginning to reveal the subtle nuances of their soil.
Guide des Vins Gault & Millau
Wine rated (2014 guide) 16/20 (Very good)
About wine:
The mineral and floral notes on the initial nose are followed by hints of white fruit and exotic fruit, nuanced with lemon and candied pineapple and a touch of saltiness. This cuvée, rich and structured around a fine acidity and ripe fruit, is enhanced on the finish by a hint of iodine. This full-bodied Alsace wine is ideal with grilled river fish.
