Château Thivin - Côte-de-Brouilly Les Griottes de Brulhié 2023

"An impressive vintage!"

Produced from the Griottes parcel in the "Brulhié" locality, whose wines have been renowned since the 17th century, this cuvée charms with its freshness and finesse. An expressive nose of fresh berries, peony, cherry and wild strawberry. Maturing in oak casks gives it a lovely structure that accompanies a very pretty minerality, resulting in a juicy mouthfeel, finishing on black fruits enhanced by a hint of spice.

Château Thivin - Côte-de-Brouilly Cuvée Zaccharie 2023

"A Gamay made for laying down".

A tribute to Zaccharie Geoffray, this cuvée is made from a selection of the best terroirs on plots of old vines. The wine's ambition is clearly evident, reflecting our know-how and precise ageing. A hint of toast and then fruit emerge on the nose. Depth and breed punctuate the palate, supported by a touch of acidity, elegant tannins and vibrant sapidity. A wine that should be kept for three to four years, and that will reveal itself over 10 years or more. A very fine bottle!

"Côte de Brouilly Le Clos 2022 comes from more clayey soils at the bottom of the hillside in question. The nose, with its beautiful minerality and great tension, offers aromas of raspberry and blackcurrant leaf. The palate is medium-bodied, with sapid notes of black fruit, a touch of licorice on the mid-palate, and blood orange and spice box on the finish. This wine will need two or three years in bottle, but the wait will be worth it." (Vinous 2024)

From the "pierres dorées" area in southern Beaujolais, this cuvée draws all its freshness and aromatic richness from its high-quality clay-limestone soil. "Nose of lemon, apple and peach. "From a relatively steep, south-facing slope, relatively high in altitude, Thivin's 2018 Côte de Brouilly La Chapelle is a big hit this year. In the glass, aromas of cherries, raspberries, spices and dried roses emerge. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, layered and multidimensional, with satiny, structuring tannins, excellent concentration and bright, succulent acidity." A plot-based cuvée from Château Thivin, Godefroy is a locality on the Côte de Brouilly, planted with old Gamay vines. It's a powerful, tannic wine with great depth. We find the very fruity, fine and delicate aromas typical of the appellation, right through to the beautifully persistent finish. A racy, authentic expression of the appellation.

"The Côte de Brouilly Cuvée Zaccharie unfurls in the glass with aromas of crushed blackcurrant, plum and spice, coated with quite marked new wood which, for me, is almost distracting. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, spicy and firmer in structure, clearly marked by the wood tannins picked up during ageing. It needs 2 or 3 years in bottle to show its best." "The 2013 Côte de Brouilly Cuvée La Chapelle comes from hilltop vines with southern exposure. It has a little more fruit intensity on the nose than the Cuvée Godefroy, in a redder style - red cherry and raspberry, cranberry. And this cranberry note continues on the palate, which reveals a fine tannic structure and a lovely finish of cherry and minerality. Who said Beaujolais didn't know elegance?" This is a rich, full-bodied Brouilly, opening up to the eye in a ruby color. Its aromas of fresh grapes, red garden fruits and natural elegance make it a very feminine wine... An invitation to pleasure!
