Bettane & Desseauve
Wine rating (2022 guide) 90/100 (2021 vintage)
Rated estate (2024 guide) 2 stars (A serious and recommendable production, but a little more consistent and uniform than the previous one)
About the estate:
Robert Joyeux juggled his career as an industrialist with extensive renovation work on the property, enabling him to create the Corbières he had always dreamed of: elegant and expressing the complexity and variety of its terroirs. Since 2011, he and his wife Geneviève have devoted themselves full-time to their estate, and their son Hubert has recently joined them to promote this fine wine around the world. The estate has been certified organic since 2013. The grapes are cared for to perfection, with gentle extraction, no crushing, and gravity-fed processing, resulting in generous yet refined and sincere wines. The Inédite cuvée displays depth and structure, while the exuberant and characterful cuvée numéro-1 lives up to its name. We were also impressed by the new La Coume cuvée, which is invigorating and fresh. The whites and rosés are delicious.

About the estate:
La Cendrillon? A locality in Ornaisons, at the foot of the Fontfroide massif, a former inn along the Roman road that linked Narbonnaise to Aquitaine. A native of the region, entrepreneur Robert Joyeux took over the family estate in 1993 and spared no expense in investing in new plantings and a new winery. Today, 42 hectares have been certified organic since the end of 2012.
