"A high-quality Corbière!"

"A silky, deep ruby color with purple highlights. A nose of red and black fruits with vegetal and peppery notes. The palate offers seductive power combined with a touch of sweetness. It's an iron fist in a velvet glove! A great mineral freshness on the finish." (Gilbert & Gaillard 2023).

Rated estate (2024 guide) Award-winning wines (This producer's wines are regularly awarded by the guide)

About the estate:

Like many properties in the Corbières region, Pech-Latt has monastic origins: the estate belonged to the nearby Lagrasse Abbey, whose vineyard is first mentioned in 784. Located at the foot of Alaric Mountain, this vast estate (340 hectares, including 160 hectares of vineyards) has been farmed organically since 1991. Lise Sadirac is now the director of the estate, which belongs to the Burgundy-based Louis Max group.

Gault & Millau Wine Guide

Guide des Vins Gault & Millau

5-star rated estate (Outstanding production)

About the estate:

At the foot of Alaric Mountain, the Pech-Latt vineyards, certified organic, are planted on limestone and red marl soils. This requires a lot of work, as the estate covers more than 90 hectares, with a varied range of grape varieties, mainly Carignan and Grenache Noir, as well as Marsanne for white wines. After destemming—except for some of the Carignan grapes—the musts undergo long fermentation, followed by aging in vats or oak barrels for certain old vines.

About wine:

Notes of black cherries, blackcurrants, dried thyme, and peppercorns. Medium-bodied with fine, firm tannins. Firm and serious with a juicy core of cherries and blackcurrants in the center and a spicier, juicier core of blueberries towards the finish.

Note and opinion by Mr. GILLES D. Published on 02/20/2024

Favorite this Grand Vin, where Pech-Latt's art of blending reveals generous aromas of wild berries (wild strawberries and blueberries in particular) and fresh herbs from the very first sniff, complemented by a hint of white pepper and a touch of zan. Full-bodied, but without excessive heat or heaviness, the palate reveals an opulent, velvety texture and a deliciously rich, slightly tangy juice, enhanced by a good dose of melt-in-the-mouth, graceful tannins that create a delicate sensation of tenderness and voluptuousness that lasts from start to finish. Despite its outdated presentation, this highly appetizing Corbières with excellent value for money is ready to drink today with Corbières lamb shanks à la Languedocienne. Rating = 4.2.
