Château des Peyregrandes
Visit Château des PeyregrandesThe Bénézech-Boudal estate is located in the Hérault region, in the heart of the Faugères appellation. The vineyard covers 25 hectares, planted with old Carignan, Syrah, Grenache, Mourvèdre, Cinsault and, since 2007, Marsanne and Roussanne for white wine production.

Owned by the Bénézech family since the end of the last century, it is now Marie-Geneviève Boudal (daughter of Pierre Bénézech), with her sons Hervé and Laurent, who carry on the family tradition at Château des Peyregrandes. After several years of integrated viticulture under the Terra Vitis label, the Château des Peyregrandes vineyard converted to organic farming in 2009.

"Lovely spicy notes (wild pepper), complemented by a fresh, spicy mouthfeel. Relief and tannins that will melt. A fine Faugères identity for this wine made from 60-year-old vines". (La Revue du Vin de France - June 2021). A very pretty bottle!

A blend of Syrah, Carignan, Grenache and Mourvèdre, Tradition has an expressive, elegant nose, with notes of jammy fruit and spices. On the palate, it is full-bodied and typical, with full expression of black fruits, a good tannic structure and freshness marked by mineral notes. Great potential!

"Superb potential"

"The vineyard comprises old Carignan vines on schist, facing due south at an altitude of 400 meters. Their juice, vinified in carbonic maceration, accounts for 40% of the blend, completed by Syrah (40%), Grenache (10%) and Mourvèdre (10%), aged in stainless steel tanks. Presented as a brut de cuve, this great wine in the making displays a fine nose of ripe fruit (mirabelle plum, kirsh, blueberry jelly) and spicy notes of laurel and pepper. The jury points to a great wine to follow, with superb potential, powerful and generous, with fine persistence. " (Terre de Vins January 2020)

This is an elegant, expressive white Faugères with floral and yellow fruit notes that reflect the identity of its two grape varieties: Roussanne and Marsanne. On the palate, the fullness brings roundness and ripe, gourmet fruit, with just the right balance provided by a lively structure. The long, spicy finish makes this cuvée a perfect partner for white meats or fish in sauce.

Faithful to the typical Faugères character, the Cuvée Prestige expresses itself with power and finesse. The Vieilles Vignes de Carignan contribute power and concentrated black fruit, spice and garrigue. The full-bodied palate is built on tannins that are still firm but have great potential. Finally, empyreumatic notes from barrel-aging Syrah guide us to a tasty and pleasant finish. A very pretty bottle!

"This deep, clean wine has a complex, airy, fresh nose of juniper, laurel, eucalyptus and menthol, followed by warmer scents of sweet spices. Supple on the attack, with aromas of black fruit and toast, the palate is full and rich, reinforced by tannins that are still young and spirited. A wine to look forward to". "On schist, Syrah expresses all the intensity of this beautiful Languedoc terroir in a full, dense wine with concentrated, rich substance. Powerful attack on the palate, rich sap and structured tannins. A fine, complete, long wine with excellent substance". (Le Guide des bonnes affaires du vin 2016 - Gerbelle & Maurange)
