Bettane & Desseauve
Domaine rated (guide 2024) 3*Stars (High-quality production that can serve as a benchmark in its sector)
About the domain :
With 17 hectares, Bertrand Minchin, a jovial and engaging winegrower, is one of the established names in the Menetou-Salon and Valençay appellations. With each passing vintage, he refines the style of his reds, which are among the best in the area, while his imposing, structured whites gain in precision. Superb value for money.
Decanter
Rated wine (guide 2023) 92/100 (Vintage 2021)
About the wine:
With its delicate, spicy aromas and rich, sweet fruit, this is a fine Pinot Noir, with plenty of finesse and a long finish. Still young, it has the potential to become more complex with bottle age. Considering the quality, the price is reasonable and shows the level of quality that Pinot Noirs from the central vineyards are reaching today. The vines are planted on clay-limestone soils resting on Kimmeridgian marl. The hand-harvested grapes were fermented in conical wooden vats and aged for six to eight months. The estate was certified organic in 2022.
Guide Hachette des vins
Domaine noté (guide 2024) Cité (Vin réussi)
About the domain :
An established name in the menetou-salon appellation with his Dom. la Tour Saint-Martin, Bertrand Minchin, equally at ease with reds and whites, has been established since 1987 at the head of 17 ha of vines on the heights of Morogues, in conversion to organic farming. In 2004, he expanded into the Valençay appellation with the 15 ha of Claux Delorme, in Selles-sur-Cher, and quickly established himself as a benchmark.
RVF - La Revue du Vin de France / Guide des Meilleurs Vins de France
Domaine noté (guide 2024) Sélectionné (We remind you that this guide is a prize list and as such, all the estates that appear in it, even without a star, represent, in our eyes, the excellence of French production).
About the domain :
Bertrand Minchin is based in Morogues, a Menetou-Salon cru, with domaine La Tour Saint Martin, and also in Valençay (Claux Delorme) - two operations grouped together under Domaines Minchin. The Valençays are joyful and upright: the Menetou-Salon cuvées are vinified with precision. The Sauvignons reflect the expression of their place thanks to a meticulous touch, as in the skilfully crafted reds. Since 2022, the estate has been certified Organic.

Note and review by M. GILLES D. Published on 23/04/2024
Beautifully crafted, Pommerais plays the gourmet card, with a beautiful aromatic expression of Pinot Noir in this warm 2022 vintage. Extremely refined, it rolls out a dense carpet of crisp, fresh red fruit flavors, combined with a pinch of spice and enhanced by a hint of minerality. Complemented by the cocoa touch of silky tannins, it shows good sapidity over the long finish. This Menetou-Salon, with its great drinkability, was the perfect match for red wine Salers tabs with sautéed potatoes. Score = 3.9.
