Bettane & Desseauve
3-star rating (High-quality production, serving as a benchmark in its sector)
About the estate:
With 17 hectares, Bertrand Minchin, a cheerful and engaging winemaker, is one of the sure values of the Menetou-Salon and Valençay appellations. Over the years, he has refined the style of his reds, which are among the best in the region, and his imposing, structured whites have gained in precision. Superb value for money.
Decanter
Wine rating (2023 guide) 92/100 (2021 vintage)
About wine:
With its delicate, spicy aromas and rich, sweet fruitiness, this is a beautiful Pinot Noir, with great finesse and a long finish. Still young, it has the potential to become more complex as it ages in the bottle. Considering the quality, the price is reasonable and shows the level of quality that Pinot Noirs from the central vineyards are achieving today. The vines are planted on clay-limestone soils resting on Kimmeridgian marl. The hand-picked grapes fermented in conical wooden vats and were aged for six to eight months. The estate was certified organic in 2022.

Rated estate (2025 guide) Mentioned (Successful wine)
About the estate:
A sure bet in the Menetou-Salon appellation with his Domaine La Tour Saint-Martin, Bertrand Minchin, equally at ease with reds and whites, has been established since 1987 at the head of 17 hectares of vineyards on the heights of Morogues, currently converting to organic farming. In 2004, he expanded into the Valençay appellation with the 15 hectares of Claux Delorme in Selles-sur-Cher, where he quickly established himself as a benchmark producer.

Rated estate (2025 guide) Selected (Please note that this guide is a ranking and, as such, all the estates listed in it, even those without stars, represent, in our opinion, the excellence of French production.)
About the estate:
Bertrand Minchin is based in Morogues, in the Menetou-Salon appellation, with the La Tour Saint Martin estate, and also in Valençay (Claux Delorme) – two estates that are part of Domaines Minchin. The Valençays are lively and straightforward, while the Menetou-Salon wines are vinified with precision. The Sauvignons reflect the expression of their terroir thanks to careful craftsmanship, as do the skillfully crafted reds. The estate has been certified Organic since 2022.

Note and opinion by Mr. GILLES D. Published on 04/23/2024
Beautifully crafted, Pommerais plays the indulgence card, with a lovely aromatic expression of Pinot Noir in this warm 2022 vintage. Extremely refined, it unfurls a dense tapestry of crisp, fresh red fruit flavors, combined with a pinch of spice and enhanced by a hint of minerality. Complemented by a hint of cocoa from silky tannins, it shows good flavor on the finish. Highly drinkable, this Menetou-Salon was a perfect match for Salers beef tenderloin with red wine, accompanied by sautéed potatoes. Rating = 3.9.
