Domaine La Croix Mélier
The La Croix Mélier estate spans 16 hectares of vineyards on the hillsides between Tours and Amboise in the famous village of Montlouis-sur-Loire. Known for its dry, semi-dry, sweet, and sparkling white wines made from the Chenin grape variety. The terroir of this part of the Loire is clay-siliceous but best known for the white stone that makes up the subsoil, called "Tuffeau."
In 2017, Pascal Berthelot handed over La Croix-Mélier to Philippe Ivancic, an actor who studied viticulture in Beaune to train for his new career as a winemaker, supported by his wife Dominique Weiss. They are both excited about the great prospects for the future. The vineyard and winemaking at La Croix Mélier are conducted in accordance with the sustainable viticulture quality charter and Terra Vitis certification. The vineyard soils are worked mechanically, without the use of weedkillers. Since 2022, the vineyard has been certified organic.
