Domaine La Croix Mélier
Visit La Croix Mélier estate covers 16 hectares of vineyards on the hillsides between Tours and Amboise, in the famous village of Montlouis-sur-Loire. Known for its dry, semi-dry, sweet and sparkling white wines made from the Chenin grape variety. The terroir in this part of the Loire is clayey-siliceous, but best known for the white stone making up its subsoil, known as "Tuffeau".

In 2017, Pascal Berthelot handed over the running of La Croix-Mélier to Philippe Ivancic, an actor who took a viti course in Beaune to train for his new profession as a winemaker, supported by his wife Dominique Weiss. They are both open to great prospects for the future. La Croix Mélier 's vineyards and vinifications are managed in compliance with the sustainable viticulture quality charter, with Terra Vitis certification. The vineyard soils are worked mechanically, without the use of weedkillers. Since 2022, the vineyard has been certified organic.

"Aged 9 months in barrel, this wine, named in tribute to the migratory birds that sometimes nest on the plot, is a deep straw yellow with impeccable limpidity. The expressive nose is reminiscent of peach and quince, with floral scents and some more vegetal notes. Long and balanced on the palate, with exotic fruits and a citrus finish. True to the appellation, this demi-sec is a real "coup de coeur".(Le Guide Hachette 2022)

2*Coup de Coeur Hachette

"For his first year at the helm of the domaine, Philippe Ivanic strikes a blow with this moelleux from a plot of old vines planted in curved rows. The must was vinified in barrels, where it remained for eleven months. The color is pale with golden highlights. The nose, still discreet, is focused on fruit. The palate develops long and harmoniously, without hiding its mellowness, releasing aromas of honey, pineapple and ripe grapes, underpinned by a freshness that's just right. Already excellent, and for a long time to come ". (Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2019)

1*Étoile Hachette

"This demi-sec comes from a parcel of vines where bustards, those big birds, have been nesting every year for ages. On the wine side, a golden Montlouis with green highlights and an expressive nose, blending floral, fruity and woody notes from the fermentation barrels. Aromas are accompanied by candied lemon anda hint of bitterness on the finish, in a well-balanced palate ". (Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2020)A bottle that's the perfect accompaniment to festive dishes and spicy fare!

A very pleasant, fresh dry Montlouis-sur-Loire, with floral notes of hawthorn and verbena. The palate is lively, with good energy and light residual sugar. Well controlled, this white wine finishes with a hint of licorice. A new wine to try!
