"The expression of a true nectar"

The grapes ripened perfectly in 2022, and the old vines (70 years old) on the south-facing slopes of Vernon produced a powerful, refined wine, half of which was aged in barrels with regular stirring. The flattering nose focuses on sun-kissed yellow fruit aromas supported by well-controlled oak. Full-bodied and delicately smooth, evoking toasted brioche and dried fruit, the palate then tightens under the effect of a subtle mineral tension that brings liveliness and complexity to the whole. A sincere evocation of the vintage, to be left to age in the cellar." (Le Guide Hachette 2025)

About the estate:

Nestled in a small cul-de-sac in the heart of the village of Condrieu, Domaine Niero has only nine hectares of vines: four in Condrieu, two in Côte Rôtie, just over one in Saint-Joseph, and just under one in Crozes-Hermitage. There is also around one hectare dedicated to IGP Collines Rhodaniennes, both Syrah and Viognier. Although the clean and modern approach is undeniable, the wines are full of character and expressive of their different terroirs.

Rated estate (2024 guide) Selected (Please note that this guide is a ranking and, as such, all the estates listed in it, even those without stars, represent, in our opinion, the excellence of French production.)

About the estate:

Since 2004, Rémi has been at the helm of this family estate, which boasts a beautiful range of terroirs in Condrieu, with 4 hectares divided into six plots. He also produces several Côte-Rôtie vintages from the Viallière and Bassenon terroirs, as well as a Saint-Joseph vintage, Bois Prieur, and another in Crozes-Hermitage. The wines are serious, rather classic, with sometimes a little aging that marks them during their youth.

About wine:

A nose of ripe, floury, and spicy apple. Rich and creamy on the palate with notes of nectarine and apple peel. Textured with a lingering finish. Seductive and very restrained for the vintage.
