It is full-bodied, with a fluid, multidimensional palate and incredibly polished tannins. This is a magnificent Côte Rôtie in the making." (Jeb Dunnuck 2022). About the estate:

Nestled in a small cul-de-sac in the heart of the village of Condrieu, Domaine Niero has only nine hectares of vines: four in Condrieu, two in Côte Rôtie, just over one in Saint-Joseph, and just under one in Crozes-Hermitage. There is also around one hectare dedicated to IGP Collines Rhodaniennes, both Syrah and Viognier. Although the clean and modern approach is undeniable, the wines are full of character and expressive of their different terroirs.

Wine rated (2024 guide) 93/100

Rated estate (2024 guide) Selected (Please note that this guide is a ranking and, as such, all the estates listed in it, even those without stars, represent, in our opinion, the excellence of French production.)

About the estate:

Since 2004, Rémi has been at the helm of this family estate, which boasts a beautiful range of terroirs in Condrieu, with 4 hectares divided into six plots. He also produces several Côte-Rôtie vintages from the Viallière and Bassenon terroirs, as well as a Saint-Joseph vintage, Bois Prieur, and another in Crozes-Hermitage. The wines are serious, rather classic, with sometimes a little aging that marks them during their youth.

About wine:

A textured, concentrated, and lively red with aromas of black fruit, grilled meat, burnt thyme, dried rosemary, and sweet spices. It is medium-bodied with fine tannins. A rich wine with lots of texture. The juicy, dense character of the berries is complemented by a lively core of spices and fine tannins, bringing a more serious touch to the palate. Lively and concentrated with a long finish. Enjoy now or keep.
