"Limited to 400 numbered magnums, this is a little treasure not to be passed up!"

"On another level, the Côte Rôtie 2020 Les 400 De La Viallière is pure class, offering classic black raspberries as well as aromas and flavors of spring flowers, game, rose petal and spice. It's full-bodied, with a fluid, multidimensional palate and incredibly polished tannins. This is a magnificent Côte Rôtie in the making." (Jeb Dunnuck 2022). Exclusively limited to 400 numbered magnums, the size of the bottles gives the wine an extraordinary capacity for ageing that will stand the test of time...

Domaine noté (guide 2023) Recommended (Wine producer recommended by Robert Parker - The Wine Advocate)

About the domain :

Nestled in a small cul-de-sac in the heart of the village of Condrieu, Domaine Niero has just nine hectares of vines: four in Condrieu, two in Côte Rôtie, just over one in Saint-Joseph and just under one in Crozes-Hermitage. There's also around a hectare devoted to the Collines Rhodaniennes IGP, both Syrah and Viognier. Although the clean, modern approach is undeniable, the wines are full of character and expressive of their different terroirs.

Domaine noté (guide 2024) Sélectionné (We remind you that this guide is a prize list and as such, all the estates that appear in it, even without a star, represent, in our eyes, the excellence of French production).

About the domain :

Since 2004, Rémi has been at the helm of this family-run estate, which boasts a fine range of terroirs in Condrieu, with 4 hectares divided into six parcels. He also produces several Côte-Rôtie cuvées from the Viallière and Bassenon terroirs, as well as a Saint-Joseph cuvée, Bois Prieur, and another in Crozes-Hermitage. The wines are serious, rather classic, with occasional ageing that marks them a little during their youth.

Wine rated (guide 2024) 94/100

About the wine:

A textured, concentrated and lively red with aromas of black fruits, grilled meat, burnt thyme, dried rosemary and sweet spices. Medium-bodied, with fine tannins. A full-bodied wine with plenty of texture. Juicy, dense berry character is complemented by a lively core of spice and fine tannins, bringing a more serious touch to the palate. Lively and concentrated, with a long finish. Enjoy or keep.
