Deeply colored, the 2018 Côtes Du Rhône Guy Louis is a blend of 60% Grenache, 25% Syrah, and a balanced amount of Mourvèdre, which has been largely destemmed and aged in second-fill barrels. It offers beautiful purity and precision in its aromas and flavors of black raspberry, spicy wood, garrigue, and pepper. Medium-bodied to full-bodied, balanced and seamless on the palate, this is a magnificent winethat will be easy to enjoy over the next 4 to 6 years." (Jeb Dunnuck 2019) A great success!

Bettane & Desseauve
Rated estate (2020 guide) 5 stars (Exceptional producers, representing the absolute pinnacle of quality in France and worldwide)
About the estate:
Michel Tardieu and Dominique Laurent created this association of excellence in the early 1990s, becoming one of the best micro-negociants in the Rhône Valley. Today, Bastien and Michel Tardieu scour the vineyards to find the best supplies, usually grapes from very old vines, often located in the historic heart of each appellation. A real change has taken place in recent vintages: large barrels, whole-bunch vinification for certain cuvées and, above all, more measured aging have raised the already excellent standard to a new level. A sure bet in the region.

6*Star rating (Exceptional production)
About the estate:
A wine enthusiast, Michel Tardieu teamed up with Dominique Laurent, the brilliant Burgundy wine merchant and winemaker, to start a small wine trading business about ten years ago. Michel Tardieu is unrivaled in his ability to unearth vintages from old vines in all the Rhône appellations. Add to that Dominique Laurent's expertise in aging wine in magnificent barrels, and you have a dynamic duo that produces the most extraordinary vintages in the Rhône.

About wine:
A blend of 60% Grenache, 25% Syrah, and 15% Mourvèdre from Lirac, Rasteau, Vacqueyras, Beaumes de Venise, and Roaix, aged in a combination of second- and third-use barrels, followed by additional time in casks, the 2018 Côtes du Rhône Guy Louis presents floral and spicy aromas, notes of garrigue and baking spices, as well as lots of cherry fruit. It is medium to full-bodied, silky and refined, with a lingering, slightly oaky finish.

About wine:
Deep purple. Quite different on the nose from Becs Fins. Does Mourvèdre make such a difference? Painstaking work and interesting, with a much softer texture. Pure hedonism and accessibility. Nice little bite at the end, but the balance is excellent for drinking young or in the medium term.
