" Fresh and racy on the palate, with engaging blackcurrant and raspberry notes of coulis stretched over a hint of iron. Shows a slight floral rise on the finish, while the fruit and minerality play off each other in a beautiful exchange." (Wine Spectator - 2019)

Wine rated 17/20 (Reference wine)

Rated estate (2020 guide) 5 stars (Exceptional producers, representing the absolute pinnacle of quality in France and worldwide)

About wine:

Crozes with intense aromas of violet and licorice, smooth and delicate on the palate, finishing with a hint of spice.

About the estate:

Michel Tardieu and Dominique Laurent created this association of excellence in the early 1990s, becoming one of the best micro-negociants in the Rhône Valley. Today, Bastien and Michel Tardieu scour the vineyards to find the best supplies, usually grapes from very old vines, often located in the historic heart of each appellation. A real change has taken place in recent vintages: large barrels, whole-bunch vinification for certain cuvées and, above all, more measured aging have raised the already excellent standard to a new level. A sure bet in the region.

6*Star rating (Exceptional production)

About the estate:

A wine enthusiast, Michel Tardieu teamed up with Dominique Laurent, the brilliant Burgundy wine merchant and winemaker, to start a small wine trading business about ten years ago. Michel Tardieu is unrivaled in his ability to unearth vintages from old vines in all the Rhône appellations. Add to that Dominique Laurent's expertise in aging wine in magnificent barrels, and you have a dynamic duo that produces the most extraordinary vintages in the Rhône.

Rated Recommended (Wine producer recommended by Robert Parker - The Wine Advocate)

About wine:

From the Gervans and Larnage regions, the 2017 Crozes Hermitage Vieilles Vignes is a great success. Peppery and herbaceous notes stand out against a backdrop of ripe cherries and hints of vanilla. Medium-bodied to full-bodied, it is rich and concentrated yet very drinkable, with a lively finish that invites another sip.

Wine rated (2020 guide) 15/20 (Good wine)

Rated estate (2020 guide) 2 stars (These very large estates, often blessed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves which, thanks to their consistency and the excellence of their production, deserve a place in the cellars of discerning wine lovers).

About wine:

This wine is animated by a lovely energy, with hints of violet and pepper. Fresh and taut, it is precise, with a hint of graphite from the granite. The palate is sapid, with serious substance and a very consistent overall profile.

About the estate:

This small, high-end wine merchant was founded in the early 1990s by Michel Tardieu and Dominique Laurent in the Rhône Valley. Thanks to excellent supplies and a keen sense of winemaking and aging, Michel Tardieu produces a range of consistent wines with a modern spirit. This cutting-edge négociant, with carefully selected supplies from both the south and north of the Rhône Valley, has been awarded a second star this year.
