Marie-Thérèse Chappaz
The Marie-Thérèse Chappaz covers 10 hectares spread over four villages: Fully, Charrat, Leytron and Chamoson. Fully lies at the bend of the Rhône. With over 2,000 hours of sunshine and 600 mm of rain per year, and granitic soil sometimes covered with loess, the village of Fully benefits from very specific climatic and geological conditions.

This exceptionality, combined with the variety of autochthonous grape varieties, such as Petite Arvine, Humagne Rouge and Cornalin, and others such as Syrah and Marsanne, well adapted to this high Rhône valley, create idyllic conditions for the production of unique wines. Marie-Thérèse Chappaz 's biodynamic approach sublimates this originality to produce wines regularly acclaimed by specialist journalists and top chefs. Walls and terraces are emblematic of the Swiss vineyards along the Rhône Valley. Created by the old winegrowers, they are rebuilt and subsidized if they are rebuilt without mortar, in dry stone, becoming an ideal environment for lizards. Today, if you lined up all the walls in the Valais, you'd reach half the length of the Great Wall of China, or over 3,000 km.

great care

"The wine has a bright citrus color and opens with a super-clear, elegant and complex bouquet of crushed stones and bright, ripe fruit aromas. [...] this is a subtle, clear and refreshing chasselas, elegant, textured and structured with a stimulating, dynamic and saline finish. The wine is vibrantly fresh, despite having undergone malolactic fermentation and fermented in two stages, autumn 2018 and spring/summer 2019." (Wine Advocate 2020 - Stephan Reinhardt)

"The 2018 Grain Pinot Charrat is fresh, precise and spicy on the nose but also a little fleshy and open. On the palate, it's ripe, lush and solidly structured pinot with a fresh, saline finish, woody tannins and chocolate flavors.." (Wine Advocate 2020 - Stephan Reinhardt)

"Swiss Grape Varieties

"The bouquet is bright, pure, supple and fresh, showing notes of crushed and weathered stones. On the palate, it's a fresh, pure, intense red with a silky texture, finely crisp tannins and a straightforward character with a salty, spicy finish. Watermarked again and highly refined." (Wine Advocate 2020 - Stephan Reinhardt)

"An exceptional wine

"Chappaz's 2018 Grain Arvine de Fully is slightly sweet, but what an amazing, bright, sparkling wine! The bouquet is bright as a sunny Valais winter day, smelling of gunpowder-like flint and bright, precise fruit aromas. [...] The palate is lush, intense and concentrated, but also pure and spicy. The finish is very elegant, with perfectly ripe, intense fruit, but the mineral framework ultimately plays the leading role. It's so saline, and the sweetness is just ripe fruit. The finish is extremely long. This is a world-class wine between the worlds of dry and sweet. [...] The finish of this Arvine is extremely long, complex and saline, with great purity, precision and freshness." (Wine Advocate 2018 - Taster)

"From the left bank of the Rhône, Marie-Thérèse Chappaz's dark-colored 2018 Grain Pinot Champ Dury opens with a very ripe, less concentrated bouquet with more plum notes. [...] The plum nose leads to a warm, intense and round palate with super ripe and sweet fruit, structured by ripe tannins and a firm minerality that, in fact, gives hope for the future." (Wine Advocate 2020 - Stephan Reinhardt)

Marie-Thérèse Chappaz - Grain Noble Petite Arvine 2016 (liquoreux)

"Cuvée star!

Le Grain Noble is made from the native Petite Arvine grape variety. This sweet wine expresses all the sweetness and wisdom of Marie-Thèrese Chappaz with a fine, complex palate of exotic fruit and quince, with a fresh, light texture. A must-have!
