Bettane & Desseauve
"A great success for this historic Grande Cuvée, with remarkable aging potential."
"Powerful aromas of black fruit jam, smoke, and roasted notes enliven a heady, intense yet surprisingly fresh wine, seamlessly integrating rich tannins that complement the whole. The estate's historic cuvée is in great shape. At mid-life, it can be drunk now or kept." (Le Guide Hachette 2025).

Wine rated (2025 guide) 91/100
Rated estate (2025 guide) 2 stars (A serious and recommendable production, but a little more consistent and uniform than the previous one)
About the estate:
After Bernard Durand, who oversaw the conversion of Pic Saint-Loup from mixed farming with a focus on sheep to its recognition as a quality wine-growing area, his nephew Régis Valentin took over the technical reins. Without fanfare, this is a domaine to seek out for its Vieilles Vignes cuvée, which is powerful yet flavorful, its Clos des Combes, and its Grande Cuvée. The Cuvée Madame is even more ambitious and the rosé is consistently delicious.

About the estate:
Régis Valentin, oenologist and cellar master, took over the estate in 2001, which was founded in 1960 by the Durand-Valentin families. He produces wines from 80 hectares of vines (in conversion to organic farming since 2019) on beautiful terroir of hard limestone and red clay. A sure bet in the Languedoc region.
