Domaine du Bagnol - Cassis Marquis de Fesques blanc 2019
91/100
RVF
"Aged in barrels, Le Marquis de Fesques 2019 takes on a more exotic and creamy character, with a subtle bitterness on the finish that gives the wine length. A beautiful southern white for the table." (Le Guide RVF 2022) A tribute to the estate's founder, this single vineyard selection is a blend of Marsanne, Clairette, and Ugni Blanc, vinified and aged in oak.

Bettane & Desseauve
Rated estate (2022 guide) 1*Star (A serious, recommendable production, in line with what one would expect from its appellation(s))
About the estate:
Purchased in 1997 by the Genovesi family and certified organic since 2014, the 17 hectares are located in the heart of the village of Cassis, with views of the sea and the majestic Cap Canaille. All south-west facing terraces, the plots benefit from clay-limestone soil and the influence of the sea. Today, Sébastien and his wife Lisa manage this little gem of a vineyard and, under the watchful eye of the energetic Jean-Louis Genovesi, produce flavorful and generous wines.

About the estate:
Archives mention the presence of vineyards as early as 1430 in this place called "Lobanhou," at the foot of Cap Canaille, France's highest sea cliff. Since 1997, Sébastien Genovesi has been managing this 23-hectare certified organic estate, located in the heart of Cassis, which was created in 1884 by the Marquis de Fesques.

About wine:
Aged in barrels, Le Marquis de Fesques 2019 takes on a more exotic and creamy character, with a subtle bitterness on the finish that gives the wine length. A beautiful southern white for the table.
About the estate:
The small (215 hectares) Cassis appellation has built its reputation on its white wines made from Marsanne, Clairette, Pascal Blanc, and Ugni grapes. Few vintages reflect the deep Mediterranean character that one would expect from them. At Domaine du Bagnol, the Genovesi family is working hard to revive more ambitious wines and restore the image of this resplendent vineyard. Under Sébastien's leadership, the vineyards were converted to organic farming in 2014, and modern, precise winemaking techniques are used to craft straightforward, technically flawless wines. We are convinced that a touch more ripeness in the grapes would bring out the salty flavors and deep body of these wines even more.

The last white wine in our tasting. The color is a bright yellow. Aromas of white fruit. Balanced and flavorful on the palate.
