Buzet
It was in 1973 that this Buzet appellation was recognized and, with the help of a few influential figures, it was able to achieve a reputation that had eluded it for many years due to the shadow cast by the enormous vineyards of the neighboring department. With similar grape varieties (Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Cabernet Sauvignon for red wines), the qualities of Buzet wines are also very similar to those of Bordeaux wines. The vast majority of Buzet red (85%), white, and rosé wine production is controlled by the appellation's cooperative group of winegrowers, which encompasses no fewer than 27 municipalities.
Nearby, Europe's largest forest pleasantly tempers the oceanic climate. The climate and soil are ideal for vineyards, assets appreciated by Bacchus, and have encouraged the planting and development of one of France's oldest vineyards. Today, the Buzet vineyard covers 2,000 hectares of production, located on 40 kilometers of hillsides.
The wines offered by the Gueyze Castle offer a perfect example of the nobility of the Buzet appellation.

Thus, density is limited to 4,000 vines per hectare, and each vine must have a clean surface area of 250 square centimeters. Although the Buzet vineyard produces white wine, this production remains fairly limited compared to Buzet red wine, which accounts for more than 95% of bottling. The grape varieties of the red Buzet wine are Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and, to a lesser extent, Côt and Malbec, which give Buzet wine its recognizable consistency.Vintages recognized for their qualities
Although the Buzet wine Although it is not a nectar to be stored for many years in a cellar, certain vintages and cuvées produce wines that are perfectly suitable for aging and comparable to certain Bordeaux wines.
