"A Beaunes Premier Cru that is already delicious, but with great aging potential according to James Suckling!"

"Elegant and fresh with wonderful delicacy. I love the floral and red cherry notes. So delicate that it's hard to believe it contains 14% alcohol! Already delicious, but with very good aging potential. Drink now or keep." (James Suckling 2021)

Wine rating (2021 guide) 90-92/100 (Outstanding wine)

About wine:

The 2019 Beaune 1er Cru Les Cras presents well, offering aromas of sweet berries, licorice, and dried flowers. Medium-bodied, bright, and mineral, it is an elegant and precise interpretation of this superior hillside premier cru, a Drouhin cuvée that has only recently begun to be bottled separately.

Rated estate (2022 guide) 2 stars (These very large estates, often blessed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves which, thanks to their consistency and the excellence of their production, deserve a place in the cellars of discerning wine lovers).

About the estate:

This house is now run by Frédéric Drouhin, assisted by his sister Véronique for the wines and his brother Philippe for the vines. In July 2013, it opened a wine bar in the heart of Beaune. It has found its stride and is establishing itself as a sure bet. The house relies on a biodynamic vineyard that is particularly well endowed with great whites, in Côte-de-Beaune but also in Chablis (wines sold under the Drouhin-Vaudon label), including the famous Clos des Mouches.

About wine:

The Beaune Cras 1er Cru 2019 has a very distinctive bouquet, with aromas of granite, almost flint, infusing the red fruit. A strong marine influence emerges over time. The palate is beautifully balanced, with lovely definition, good firm structure, and a solid, fairly lively finish with a crisp texture. Abundant freshness. This Beaune should be enjoyable to drink for 12 to 15 years. Excellent.
