"Famous vineyard"

This is a vineyard famous among all others! Located south of Beaune, very close to the town, it would appear that Pommard is the site of the oldest wine-growing activities in the Côte. Pommard Grands Epenots has a beautiful deep ruby color. Its nose is elegant and complex: nuances of red fruits (blackcurrant, redcurrant, morello cherry), a traditional expression of Pinot Noir, accompanied by toasted and spicy notes. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied with ripe, supple tannins. Very long finish. Keep it in the cellar for a few years and it will only get better.

Rated estate (2022 guide) 2 stars (These very large estates, often blessed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves which, thanks to their consistency and the excellence of their production, deserve a place in the cellars of discerning wine lovers).

About the estate:

This house is now run by Frédéric Drouhin, assisted by his sister Véronique for the wines and his brother Philippe for the vines. In July 2013, it opened a wine bar in the heart of Beaune. It has found its stride and is establishing itself as a sure bet. The house relies on a biodynamic vineyard that is particularly well endowed with great whites, in Côte-de-Beaune but also in Chablis (wines sold under the Drouhin-Vaudon label), including the famous Clos des Mouches.
