Castilla la Mancha
The autonomous region of Castilla-La Mancha is located in central Spain, between Madrid to the north and Andalusia to the south. The Castilla la Mancha regional appellation, already recognized in 1932, was awarded the title of Denomination of Origin in 1973. With a vineyard area of almost 450,000 hectares, Castilla la Mancha alone produces half of all Spanish wines, even though there are only eight local DOs.

Located on the Meseta Central (central plateau) of the Iberian Peninsula, the Castilla la Mancha wine appellation encompasses 182 municipalities in the four provinces of Albacete, Ciudad Real, Cuenca and Toledo. It does not therefore cover the entire administrative region. The vineyards enjoy an extreme continental climate, with wide temperature variations and variable rainfall, providing the right conditions for optimal vine development. These characteristics produce magnificent results, thanks in no small part to the work of Bodega Ercavio.

The white wines of theCastilla la Mancha appellation are made from Airén, Macabeu, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc grapes. Red and rosé wines are made from Tempranillo, Grenache, Moravia, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah. In this important Castilla la Mancha production, a distinction must be made between young wines (jóvenes) and traditional wines (tradicionales), which can be of all three colors, and the higher quality red wines Crienza (barrel-aged), Reserva (aged at least 12 months in oak and 24 months in bottle) and Gran Reserva (aged at least 24 months in oak and 36 months in bottle). The appellation also produces sparkling wines.

"The accessible Grenache 2017 Castillo de Belarfonso has been made from grapes from the village of Real de San Vicente, one of the villages in the Sierra de Gredos within the Méntrida appellation. It has a brilliant ruby color and a sparkling nose with intense aromas of red fruits and spices. It's an excellent introduction to the wines of Gredos. I really liked it, it overcomes the effect of the warm vintage and offers good freshness." A magnificent, fresh Grenache!

"Congo 2015 is a selection of the best Grenache bunches from an old vineyard in the village of Real de San Vicente, on granite soils, from the same plants as one of the vineyards that produce Tres Patas. Only the 2007 and 2009 vintages had previously been produced, as the grape-by-grape harvest was too tedious. This wine was aged in French oak foudre (the equivalent of ten Burgundy barrels, or 2,280 liters) for 18 to 20 months. It reveals notes of sweet fruit and the austerity of granite soils. A wine to be left to age for it to blossom further." (Wine Advocate 2017 - Robert Parker) An exceptional Grenache!

"The new vintage wasn't out yet so I re-tasted Loco blanc 2015 to check its evolution in bottle. It's becoming very balsamic, with notes of camphor and laurel, this wine is clearly Mediterranean, with some mineral notes reminiscent of Riesling, while retaining the varietal signature. It should continue to improve in bottle." (Wine Advocate 2018 - Robert Parker) A wine that lives up to its name! A crazy gamble to make the only 100% Grenache blanc cuvée in central Spain. A unique and unmissable cuvée! (Supplied with fabric cover)

"The 2012 Mundo de Yuntero comes from organic vineyards (including the syrah) and has not been aged in oak. It offers a fresh nose of blackberry and cherry, while the palate is fleshy and generous on the attack. The finish is a little "conventional", but it's a real bargain at this price for a Tempranillo. Drink now. (Wine Advocate - Robert Parker)

Ercavio 's magnificent 15-hectare vineyard benefits from an ideal terroir for perfect ripening of the grapes and keeping them fresh. The Tempranillo Roble cuvée, named after the grape variety, is vinified in the traditional way, partly in the typical clay amphoras known as "tinajas", before being transferred to barrels. A pleasant wine to discover the magic of Iberian nectars...

"Intense garnet-red color. Notes of plum, blackberry and spices. Full-bodied, with ripe fruit, silky tannins and good acidity. Long, spicy finish. (The Wine Advocate - Robert Parker)

The Bodegas Ercavio vineyards stretch across wind-swept plateaus at an altitude of 750 metres. A magnificent landscape with a continental climate, with cold, dry winters and hot summers accompanied by cool nights due to the high altitude. Ideal conditions for producing ripe, well-balanced, fresh whites, such as Ercavio Blanco 2008, 95% Airen and 5% Sauvignon Blanc. A fruity vintage with intense aromas, to be enjoyed without delay!
