"A bottle that's just waiting to age, simply superb!"

"Les Blanchais 2022 is a finely textured, precise and concentrated style. It is distinguished by its texture and aromatic restraint with aromas of fennel, citrus and oats. The 2022 offers excellent balance and ripe acidity with line and length. It has a high level of concentration and innate power at its core. Lots of chalky intensity coats the palate." (Vinous A. Galloni 2024)

Bettane & Desseauve

Wine rated (guide 2025) 93/100

Domaine rated (guide 2025) 3*Stars (High-quality production that can serve as a benchmark in its sector)

About the domain :

The Pellé family have deep roots in the Menetou-Salon appellation, and their work in the vineyard and winery is impressive. Since 2006, Paul-Henri has been re-enchanting this family-run address, which is improving in quality. The emphasis on plot-based cuvées and the mastery of ageing in wood, with an increasing use of large containers (foudres and vats), contribute to the excellence of the domaine, which has added a further requirement with organic farming certification since 2021.

Wine rated (guide 2025) 93/100

Domaine rated (guide 2025) 1*Star (Stars in the making or quality winemakers with good production levels, you won't be disappointed when you taste the wines from these estates)

About the wine:

As usual, Les Blanchais is more taut and chiselled, while carrying the fatness of its year. It's a lovely white in the making.

About the domain :

Paul-Henry Pellé, Anne's son, is in charge of the vineyards and vinifications: this demanding winemaker, who never ceases to refine soil work and ageing methods, is fully committed to the quest for optimal ripeness and varied terroir expression. Meticulous vinification produces crisp, refreshing whites (Morogues), as well as deeper wines that reflect the uniqueness of each terroir: Le Carroir (old vines on flint), Vignes de Ratier (solar terroir of Kimmeridgian marl), Les Blanchais (northeast-facing Kimmeridgian marl). Well constituted, the reds may show some deviation.

Wine rated (guide 2024) 16.5/20

About the wine:

Intense, deep nose. Bone-dry finish. Less fruit in the middle than others. Perhaps it needs time to build consistency? Citrus peel.
