Expert opinion
Guide Hachette des vins
Wine rated (2017 guide) 1*Star (Very successful wine)
About the wine:
Cuvée Prestige is made from pure Tannat planted on the estate's highest, warmest, south-facing plots. It is aged for a long time in new oak (84 months for this 2012). The color is deep: a "black wine". The evolved, generous nose harmoniously blends ripe fruit and woody, roasted coffee nuances. On the palate, excellent substance confirms the ripeness of the fruit and the quality of the ageing. The wine is full-bodied, structured, suave and long, built on coated, silky tannins. Despite its age, this vintage still has considerable potential.

Domaine noté (guide 2023) Sélectionné (We remind you that this guide is a prize list and as such, all the estates that appear in it, even without a star, represent, in our eyes, the excellence of French production).
About the domain :
Alain Brumont develops his personality through a style that takes wines from Madiran around the world under the label of Château Montus, which he bought in 1980. Brumont's cuvées often go against conventional wisdom, demonstrating his freedom in interpreting the terroirs' yellow and red clay subsoils, with gradients ranging from 20 to 40%. Tannat expresses itself in the château's three cuvées, Prestige, XL, Montus and La Tyre, and certainly delivers the most spectacular profile of this not-easy-to-handle Pyrenean grape.
