About wine:
The Prestige cuvée is made from pure Tannat grapes grown on the estate's highest and warmest south-facing plots. It is aged for a long time in new oak (84 months for this 2012 vintage). The color is deep: a "black wine." The developed and generous nose harmoniously blends ripe fruit and woody notes with hints of roasted coffee. On the palate, a beautiful texture confirms the maturity of the fruit and the quality of the aging. The wine is full-bodied, structured, smooth, and long, built on silky, well-integrated tannins. Despite its age, this vintage still has considerable potential.

About the estate:
Alain Brumont develops his personality through a style that has made Madiran wines famous throughout the world under the Château Montus label, which he bought in 1980. Often bucking conventional wisdom, Brumont's vintages reflect his great freedom in interpreting terroirs with yellow and red clay subsoils, ranging from 20 to 40%. Tannat is featured in the château's three wines, Prestige, XL, Montus and La Tyre, and certainly delivers the most spectacular profile of this difficult-to-handle Pyrenean grape.
